When Shekhar Rahate of Modeschauen Events organised the first Finesse modelling workshop, he did not realise that the response to his concept of training aspiring models would be so enthusiastic. But to his surprise it was much better than he expected. Not only that, two of the trainees - Nova Krishnan and Rennae Rodrigues - even made it among the top three winners in the Zee Pantene Teen Queen contest and one of them - Sanam Sippy, bagged modelling contracts for famous brands.
Once again they are inviting big names in the fashion and modelling world to train the aspirants. Fashion and catwalk gurus like Hemant Trivedi, Noyonika Chatterjee and Prasad Bidappa will train them in how to walk on the ramp while Shernaz Patel will give voice modulation and diction lessons. Tejal Patni will do the portfolios, Hugo D'Souza will handle the question/answer sessions and Dr S J Singh of New York Dental Clinic will provide dental expertise and counselling. Besides, there will also be courses on diet, nutrition, makeup, fitness, jive and salsa dancing.
Buoyed by his success, Shekhar in association with Ambika Vohra, is organising the second installment of the training programme. But he promises that it will be much more extensive and better organised. "We have learnt our lessons and plan to do it in a much better way this time," he claims.
Ambika too is full of enthusiasm for her new project. "Last year we had it only for girls but this year, due to the many inquiries received from boys, we are including them too," she adds.
Classes for boys and girls will be held separately from 5:30 to 10:30 pm and at the end of the programme the participants will get a chance to show their newly acquired skills at a gala fashion show. "In fact this time we plan to bring in a surprise entertainment element for the event," they said.
The workshop will start on February 20, 2003 and will go on till March7. "We have extended it from 10 to 15 days since we felt that the 10-day programme was too intense and left no room for relaxation" says Shekhar.
The training will cost Dh3500 per person which includes a free picture portfolio by Patni. Those requiring dental care will get a 50 per cent discount at New York Dental Clinic.
Shekhar also has another sop for the youngsters. "All deserving participants stand a chance to be a part of beauty pageants that Modeschauen Events will be organising in the future. These include pageants which I am planning for both boys and girls."
Those wishing to become top models of the future can start saving right now so that when Finesse 2003 starts, they can have an opportunity to learn from the professionals who have set examples in the modelling world.
